ORNL’s partnerships in the First State are focused on developing reuse polymer materials and biofuels. These efforts build on Delaware’s well-established chemical manufacturing industry and Wilmington’s recognized research and development strengths.
ORNL’s user facilities offer a diverse set of tools for experiments across a range of fields, including biology, materials and energy sciences, physics, engineering, and chemistry. Learn more about ORNL’s user facilities. Data reflects fiscal year 2020 except for scientific publications, which covers 2016–2020. Partner stories reflect work conducted from 2016 to present.
ORNL collaborates with a DOE Energy Frontier Research Center led by the University of Delaware, to address polymer waste challenges through new innovations. Together, researchers are developing methods to reuse polymer waste to create new primary materials for manufacturing. These advancements could simplify processing by removing the need to pre-sort polymers, reducing costs and improving efficiency. Learn more about biological science at ORNL.
